HVID booties, how long can you wear booties?
The woolen HVID baby slippers have been tested on many babies, some babies wear the slippers daily and for months and other babies move more and have faster wear. Baby feet are constantly moving from happiness to hunger and colic, and therefore there is constant friction. When you see that your baby moves a lot and kicks his or her feet together a lot, switch them up with another pair.
We notice that faster wear and tear occurs around 3 to 4 months, as babies learn to turn and constantly push themselves off. They constantly push themselves off with their heel. You can see the wool thinning, until it eventually becomes a hole, repair a small hole immediately.
Wear with wool is normal, especially at the beginning fluff arises because the slippers move against each other or against a blanket, this fluff is normal and you can easily remove it. Wool is strong but not unbreakable, slippers with wear holes are not covered by the warranty.

What does the name HVID stand for?
When the Danes speak of 'hvid', they speak of the purest color of all: white. A color as fresh as snow and soft as milk. Every design you hold tight is first made in pure white. By doing this, HVID is able to create the finest subtleties in the pattern and find the perfect weight. The balanced result looks so elegant and feels so heartwarming that you'll want to keep it shut forever.
Who is HVID knitwear?
HVID knitwear originated from the heart of Caroline Camerlynck. Before the knitted baby items go to her, she checks every detail. Creating designs that are sensitive and timeless, Camerlynck's quest for warmth and softness has led the designer to create these delicate fabrics, which comfort you in so many ways.
For as long as Caroline can remember she has been fascinated by mathematical forms. Repetition gives inner peace and comes back to her professional and personal life.
Merino wool doesn't itch?
Unlike ordinary wool, merino wool does not itch thanks to its higher density (more wool hairs per square cm than traditional wool) a merino hair is often 10 times thinner compared to normal sheep hair. In addition, merino wool feels much softer, which prevents irritation to the skin. This makes the HVID products so wonderfully soft and they are perfect for sensitive skin and very suitable for baby products.
The extra fine merino wool is spun in Italy and is more commonly referred to as cash wool, the market leader in merino yarns, the 'Rolls Royce' of merinos. It is the only extra fine merino wool yarn made entirely in Italy.
Why was Merino wool chosen for the baby items?
In addition to the fact that merino wool does not sting, another nice feature of this wool is that it does not smell when used intensively. The wool is naturally self-cleaning. You think a fabric that is self-cleaning is not possible, is it? Anyway. The fiber contains lanolin. If this gets a little damp, the lanolin will turn into lanolin soap, which is a natural antibacterial. Since bacteria play a major role in a sweat odor, you keep smelling fresh. Also useful with the milk odors... The wool repels bacteria due to its fine structure and is therefore very easy to maintain.
So you don't have to wash products with merino wool as often. The more often you wash, the less lanolin and therefore less protection. Merino wool is a natural product that is very durable. A product made with merino wool will last for years.
Merino wool is heat and moisture regulating and very suitable for babies
Babies are not yet able to regulate their own body temperature the way adults can. The wool is perfect for both winter and summer. Merino wool creates a microclimate around your baby, so that they always have a constant temperature.
In the summer, water is absorbed from your baby's skin. In winter, it absorbs the cold air and circulates warm air, keeping your baby warm. A constant appropriate temperature gives the baby more chance for deeper and restful sleep.
Sleep longer and better in merino wool
Multiple studies have shown that babies sleeping in merino cry less, sleep longer, eat better and gain weight faster. Merino wool also has more fibers in the fabric, so that it traps more small air particles and therefore insulates well. It can also absorb 30% of its own weight in moisture and then drain this moisture away from the body.
Merino wool breathes much better than, for example, cotton and other man-made yarns. This ensures that moisture evaporates better and overheating is prevented. You can compare it to a second skin that adapts to different circumstances.
Can I wash the woolen HVID knitwear baby items?
Yes, but preferably as little as possible, because merino wool is antibacterial, often washing is not necessary, air is preferably the article. Use a wool detergent and wool wash program and do not use fabric softeners, then let the item air dry.
Merino wool and babies with eczema
Baby's skin with eczema dries out faster which can lead to cracked skin, bacterial infection, redness, scratching and itching. That is why the advice is to bathe babies less often and to wash them without soap.
In a major medical breakthrough, wool has proven to be beneficial to the skin and offers a natural treatment for eczema that reduces the need for traditional medicines. The theory that superfine merino wool worn next to the skin may contribute to people with eczema.
There is a study led by Associate Professor John Su of Murdoch Children's Research Institute and this study found that merino wool superfine clothing reduced the severity of mild to moderate pediatric atopic dermatitis compared to cotton clothing. There was a reduction in eczema symptoms over a six-week period while wearing woolen clothing and the subsequent increase in symptoms when resuming cotton clothing.
Merino wool is fire resistant and UV resistant
The inherent chemical structure of wool makes wool naturally flame resistant. It is a very trusted natural fiber in public areas. Merino wool clothing offers good protection against the sun, compared to the protection offered by other fibers. As a natural fibre, developed over millions of years to protect sheep from the elements, merino wool absorbs UV rays and provides protection from the sun.
